Yeats Language School is situated in Sligo on the North West Coast of Ireland. On the banks of the Garavogue River, it is beautiful and idyllic setting for a language learning experience. With a supportive management structure, teaching team and office staff, YLS can provide tuition for a range of courses from General English to English for Specific Purposes.The purpose built year round school provides high quality tuition for a diverse mix of students from all over the world. Our Staff

  • Our teachers are all university teaching graduates and are qualified to teach English as a foreign language. The majority of staff have been teaching for many years and have taught abroad. They bring a wide range of both academic and life experience to their teaching.
  • The emphasis throughout all the courses is to provide quality English tuition in a personal, relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Our enthusiastic teaching staff use the latest pedagogic methodology in their classroom techniques and procedures. Through regular teacher meetings the Director of Studies monitors the students' progress and makes any necessary changes to levels. This ensures optimum learning outcomes.
  • Our administration staff will help students with any queries or problems that may arise regard to tuition, accommodation, travel and car hire, social and cultural activities and more. The school has become widely respected for its warm and personal atmosphere, its small classes and a diverse mix of international students from all over the world. As a result of this, we predict many of our students will return year after year or send friends and colleagues.

Activities

  • You will never be short of things to do during your spare time in Sligo. Day time activities range from surfing to golf and horse-riding for the active student. Alternatively, why not explore the stunning coast line, or simply amble around the many historical landmarks, galleries, shops and theatres within the town. The nightlife in Sligo is vibrant and varied, with excellent bars and restaurants. Traditional Irish music is a common feature in many of the town’s pubs. For a more youthful music vibe, check out The Velvet Rooms and Toff’s nightclubs in the heart of the town centre.

On first day of your course:

  • Arrive at the school at the time shown on your confirmation letter/email.
  • Please bring proof of payment with you on the first day.
  • Students are tested on arrival at school and placed in a class appropriate to their level.
  • Students receive a ‘Welcome Pack’ with maps of Sligo, train/bus timetable and other useful information.
  • They also receive student I.D cards for the duration of their stay.

Important:

  • Students who require a visa should apply at least three months in advance of start date to allow time for their payment to reach us and their Letter of Acceptance to be mailed to them.
  • Bank charges are not included in the fees.
  • Host family details will be sent after fees have been received and/or before commencement of the course.
  • Please advise us of your arrival time so that we can telephone your host family and inform them.

Clases: Each class is 90 minutes long. Private tuition is per hour.

Fees:

  • Fees include: placement test, welcome pack, tuition, use of computers, progress report and end of course certificate.
  • Fees do not include: Course books and materials, Exam fees, lunch, private insurance and bank charges.
  • A registration fee of €50 will be charged on all courses. Registration fee does not include course books.
  • All students must pay for their course book and materials at a cost of €60. For certain courses where a book is not required, €30 for materials only will be charged. This fee will be included on all invoices.

The School will be closed on the following public holidays:

Christmas Holidays – 1st to 2nd January, St. Patrick’s Day - March 17th, Easter Holidays - Friday and Monday, May Bank Holiday, June Bank Holiday, August Bank Holiday, October Bank Holiday, Christmas Holidays, school will be closed for 2 weeks from 21st December until 4th January. Please note that no lessons will take place on the these days.There is no reduction in fees and classes are not compensated for.

Accommodation: All accommodation booked by YLS is subject to a booking fee of €50.

Visa

  • Non-EU nationals should contact their local Irish Embassy or Consulate or visit the Department of Justice website: www.irlgov.ie/justice for details of visa requirements. YLS offers an efficient visa support service.

Cancellation

  • If a course is cancelled more than 14 days before the start date, the registration fee will be charged. All other monies in respect of the course and accommodation will be returned to the student.
  • If a course is cancelled less than 14 days before the start date, one week’s accommodation and tuition will be charged.
  • If a cancellation occurs because of a visa refusal, the registration fee of €50 will be charged.

Changing Dates

  • If a student changes the date of a course before arrival or during their course, an extra registration fee will be charged.

Refund

  • No refunds can be made after a course has started. In the case of illness, students may ask for a course to be postponed to a later date. In this case the school will require a medical certificate. A course cannot be carried over into the next calendar year.
