College Hours
- School begins at nine o’ clock each morning but we ask students to arrive at 8.30 on their first morning to facilitate testing. In the case of ‘closed groups’, this is not necessary. On the first day, each student will have an oral and a written test, which will take approximately one and a half hours. This test is corrected and the students will be put in a class appropriate to their level of English. In the case of closed groups, students are assigned to classes according to the wishes of the teachers/leaders.
- During the morning there is a coffee break from 10.40– 11.20.
- When class finishes at 13.00 the group may take their lunch here in the school in the common room.
Social Activities
We offer a varied and interesting programme of extra-curricular activities including films, walking-tours, lectures, talks, evening outings and excursions.
Our social organiser accompanies students on all outings in Dublin. Once a week, places of historic and cultural interest are visited, such as Dublin Castle, Malahide Castle, Trinity College, The Writers' Museum, Dublinia. Full day and weekend excursions to such places as Glendalough, Kilkenny and Newgrange are led by a teacher.
Every day an English video is shown in the school free of charge to all students. Many students take advantage of this chance to just relax and socialise with students of other nationalities in the common-room.
Course Book
- Please note that all students must purchase a course book. The cost of the course book is dependent on their level (approximately €26.00).
Examination
- If students wish, they may be prepared for any of the major recognised examinations – Cambridge: Preliminary, First Certificate, Advanced or Proficiency; TIE, TOEFL; TOEIC; or Pitman: Basic, Elementary, Intermediate, Higher Intermediate or Advanced. Linguaviva has an excellent record of success in these examinations.
- Please note that non-EU students taking a course of 25 weeks or more are obliged to take an approved, external Examination during this period.
